Delhi High Court restrains Air India unions from continuing the strike
May 26, 2010
NACIL has filed a suit for injunction against the Air Corporation Employees Union (ACEU) and the All India Aircraft Engineers Association (AIAEA) seeking to restrain the members of these two unions from continuing with the ongoing strike resorted to since the morning of 25th May 2010.
It was submitted by the Counsel for the airline before Hon'ble Delhi High Court that the strike was illegal, unjustified and would cause enormous damage to the airline both in terms of loss of revenue as also in terms of loss of reputation besides causing serious and grave discomfort to the travelling public.
Upon hearing the Counsel Mr Lalit Bhasin, the High Court directed the Defendant unions not to continue with the strike and also not to resort to strike w.e.f. 31st May 2010 in terms of the strike notice dated 14th May 2010 served by the union. The court further directed the members of the union not to cause any obstruction to the visitors and passengers at the airports and the Head Office / Registered Office / Booking Offices and the regional offices of the airline. The unions shall allow egress and ingress to visitors and goods.
