Q. When do I have to check-in for a flight?
A. All airport counters close 45 minutes before departure. First and Executive class passengers can check in up to 2 hours prior departure, economy class can check in up to 3 hours prior and domestic passengers can check in up to 2 hours prior departure.


Q. What is an Embarkation Form?
A. It is a form asking for your travel particulars that you have to fill up prior to your departure and which you have to hand over at the Immigration counter. These forms are only available at the airport.


Q. Can I change currency at the airport just prior to departure?
A. Yes, currency exchange counters are available at most airports.


Q. Do I need to reconfirm my ticket?
A. Reconfirmation is only required on the following routes:
India/Africa/India
India/Gulf/India
India/South East Asia/India (Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta)


Q. Is the same rule applicable if I break journey?
A. If you break your journey, you are required to necessarily reconfirm your ticket 72 hours prior to departure if you are traveling to any of the destinations in the Middle East, Gulf, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Dacca or Africa.


Q. Can I select my seat?
A. In most cases, passengers booking online will be given the option to view and confirm their seats on a seat map. If you have pre-assigned seats, we will make every effort to check you into those seats. If you do not have pre-assigned seats, we will try to ensure your group is checked into seats next to each other where possible. For passengers not booking their flights online, you may go to Manage Your Trip – Special Requirements and request for the seat of your choice vide email.


Q. Is vaccination against disease a mandatory health requirement for travel?
A. Vaccination against yellow fever is the only vaccination specifically required in normal travel.


Q. Do I have to get vaccinated against Yellow Fever for any sector of International travel?
A. No.  This is as a health regulation, and is applicable only under certain specific conditions and more so, specific to certain countries - specifically the infected areas in Africa and South America.


Q. Where can I get the particular details with regards to this?
A. Your travel agent will inform you regarding current health regulations of the country of your proposed travel.


Q. What is the validity of a yellow fever vaccination?
A. The validity period is for 10 years, commencing 10 days after vaccination. However, in case of re-vaccination within the 10-year period, the validity is 10 years beginning from the date of re-vaccination.


Q. What should I do if I lose my ticket?
A. Please contact the nearest Air India office in case of lost tickets. An LDPC (Lost Document Penalty Charge) of USD 50 or its equivalent in local currency will be levied per passenger per document reissued and an Indemnity form requires to be submitted as per the prescribed format.  This is applicable only in case you are holding the conventional paper ticket and not e-tickets.
