Effective 01July09, tickets purchased in UK in GBP for travel from London are entitled to the following free baggage allowances for adult and child

Air India consistently offers the best value-for-money fares across its vast network, including USA, Canada, UK, Europe, South East Asia, Far East Asia, Australia, Middle East and Africa.
The offer is available to students starting their international journey from India and travelling on a valid student/student exchange visa (F1/J1/I20/DS2019 etc.) between 05-Jun-09 and 31-Dec-09.
To USA and Canada, in addition to the regular baggage allowance, 1 free piece of baggage is permitted, with a maximum weight of 23kgs and the sum of the linear dimensions 62 inches, which is valid to all interior points.
To the following destinations, in addition to the regular baggage allowance, 10kgs free baggage is permitted:

To interior points in UK and Europe via London on British Midland Airways. |
| 3. |
To Singapore, Bangkok, Hongkong, Dubai, Osaka, Tokyo, Shanghai and Nairobi on all AI/IC operated flights only. |

To Australia on routings such as India to Singapore, Bangkok and Hongkong on AI/IC and connecting on Qantas to Australia. |
Excess Baggage Ticket (EBT) will be issued for students travelling to USA or Canada interior points and to European interior points via Frankfurt or Paris.
Free additional baggage allowance will be valid for the outbound journey only.
Free additional baggage allowance will also be valid on the Indian domestic leg of the international journey on AI/IC operated flights.
In addition to the above, the first date change can be made free without any rebooking penalty.
Cancellation charges can be waived only if proof of Visa rejection is provided.
This offer is not valid on codeshare flights with other carriers.
Students will also benefit from Free Frequent Flyer Programme membership and 2000 mileage points, which will be granted on enrolment.

Free Baggage Allowance For Students Travelling By
Air India To USA/CANADA |
April 23, 2009. |
Students holding I20 forms for travel originating from India to gateway points in USA/CANADA can carry one additional piece weighing 23 kgs. on Air India flights i.e. total free baggage allowance of 69 kgs for three pieces.
The additional baggage allowance will also be applicable to students travelling from interior points in India on Air India/IC domestic flights and connecting to Air India flight to USA/Canada, provided they are travelling on a through ticket. The facility of additional free baggage allowance is available only for outbound journeys originating from India and not for return travel. This facility is only applicable on AI/IC operated flights and not on Code share flights.

Note :

It is not valid for separate sector fares used for travel on domestic India routes.

| Free baggage allowance USA-India |
April 6, 2009 |
Economy class passengers travelling from JFK/EWR/ORD to India on AI flights will be permitted to carry 2 pieces of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 70 lbs (instead of 50lbs). This additional baggage allowance will apply on flights AI102/126/140/144 for travel during the period 19Mar to 30Apr, 2009. This offer is available for travel from USA to India only. For return travel the normal limit of 50lbs will apply. The baggage allowance for travel on other AI flights or any other airline remains unchanged.

If the checked in baggage exceeds piece allowance ( i.e 23 kg ) then an applicable excess baggage fee per kilo will be levied . |

| This baggage allowance is applicable on all tickets issued on or after January 9, 2009 for travel effective 15Jan09 for Economy class passengers only. |

Economy class tickets issued on or before 31Jan09 for outbound travel before 31Mar09 are entitled to additional free baggage allowance of 20kgs for London and Paris and 10kgs for Frankfurt.
Passengers travelling from India to London and Paris will be entitled to total 40kgs of free baggage allowance and passengers travelling from India to Frankfurt will be entitled to total 30kgs free baggage allowance.
The tickets must be issued on or before 31Jan09 and the outbound travel should commence before 31Mar09.
